WHO AM I?

I'm Kara, and I became a coach because I couldn't avoid it. I'm an empath and oldest child who has always enjoyed taking the reins and helping people problem solve. I use a combination of neuroscience, intuition, and compassion to give you support and structure while upgrading your work life. I've helped people change jobs and even careers, despite initial worries about salary, lack of training, or not knowing where to go next. For several years, I worked in a top 20 law school careers office and immersed myself in learning why traditional career advice falls short, what makes someone love their career, and the psychology of job searching. My experience helping hundreds of people shape their careers, coupled with my instincts, makes me a strong ally for job and soul-seekers.

WHAT IS COACHING?

I'm a coach, not a mentor, therapist, or consultant (although I have played some of those roles)! In coaching, we create a container to work together in a forward-looking way. I'm not so concerned about the reason you want to make a change - in fact, I usually don't need to know much at all about your problems. Instead, we'll have a series of conversations and exercises to help you decide what you really want, how to go about getting there, and then I’ll support you along the way. We'll usually have some takeaways and to-do's between our talks, but I don’t give advice (unless you ask and I feel qualified to give it)!

MY PHILOSOPHY

To me, coaching is energy work. I believe in the power of coaching mainly because I have benefited immensely from the coaching I have received. Coaches have helped me change jobs and careers (after a long process of soul searching), feel better about my relationships with money and my family, and improve my physical wellbeing. In 2015, I began formal coaching training through the Neuroleadership Institute, an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified program in New York City. I completed a refresher coaching course with Tara Mohr in spring-summer 2023. I follow a brain-based approach to coaching, which combines science with spirituality. It also means nobody gets the same cookie cutter advice. We will employ well-tested neuroscience techniques to help you use your own intuition, ferret out "noise," and prioritize. If you’re comfortable with it, we may also lean on the universe for some help with tools such as visualization and tarot cards. It may sound counterintuitive, but brain-based coaching sometimes requires us to take thinking out of the equation - overthinking often inhibits creativity and keeps us running in circles.
